Keita Aono was born in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1975 and spent his early years there before returning to Japan.
After living in Fukuoka, he moved to Osaka to study architecture at Osaka University of Arts. He joined NOMURA Co., Ltd. in 1999 and established Aono’s Room in the Commercial Environmental Design Department in 2013.
His portfolio spans a wide range of projects, including retail, hospitality, tourism, and commercial facilities, as well as chapels and hotel guestrooms. Drawing on his multicultural upbringing, his work blends Eastern and Western perspectives and has received recognition both in Japan and internationally.
In 2014, he began collaborating with Oki Sato of Nendo, contributing to the establishment of a strategic alliance between the two organizations in 2016.
